Graduation party

In May, Tom had two nephews that graduated, one from 8th grade and one from high school. His sister, Marta, had a huge party to celebrate!

Her backyard was set up so beautiful!

In the front, there was a live band (you can see tent they were under to the right).

In the front, there was also a volleyball net set up.

Cara and Polly enjoying the air conditioner inside...

Tom and Elliott sweating outside....

It was a great party!

Show Us Your Life...Engagement Story

So, Kelly's Korner is doing engagement stories...I was definitely one of those girls who knew it was coming. We had been talkig about it for a while. However, I THOUGHT he had no where near enough money to purchase a ring yet....I was wrong :).

It was Friday, March 6, 2009. We work at the same place so I went down to his office to see what he was doing right after work. He wasn't there? What? He never leaves without telling me first? His boss, who NEVER really talks to me, informs me that he sent him out on a shop (he's a pricing manager so he has to "shop" our competition)...well, ok, why didn't he tell me? oh well.

I get to my house and he is there...very nervously there. He tells me he has a surprise, we are going downtown for the night. Our friend Melody is taking care of our pets so to pack a bag. I KNEW it then; this was sooo unlike him, especially the nervous part.

We went to the Madison Hotel downtown. We went on the rooftop and he proposed on one knee at sunset. It was perfect. Turns out, EVERYONE already knew.

We wanted to go to good restaurant to celebrate but he hadn't been able to make reservations because he didn't know our timeline...so we ended up eating at TGI Fridays...ha!...that was ok, I just stared at my ring most of the time anyway! :)

It was a perfect engagement!

11 weeks today!

First I want to share some pics we had made for my mom's birthday and then a bumpdate!

I thought they turned out pretty good!

Ok, so I'm so stealing this from Life in the Fulmer Lane but I REALLY want some sort of scrapbook for this time and this is really the only way I see that happening! :)

How far along? 11 weeks

Weight gain? None! woohoo! The doctor really only wants me to gain 20 pounds so I am shooting for no weight gain in the first trimester

Maternity clothes? I have purchased one black dress that could pass either way but it is sooo comfortable. Funny thing, I also bought a belly band to get ready for when my pants are too tight...today I am wearing it to keep up some pants from before I lost weight. ha!

Stretch marks? Not yet, thank goodness

Sleep? ok, but I don't think the air in our bedroom is working!

Best moment of the week? Monday night Tom and I went walking and then I actually cooked dinner! I have been soo tired normally after work that I don't want to do anything but sleep.

Have you told friends/family? Um, yeah, not a very good secret keeper!

Movement? Not yet, can't wait though!

Food cravings? Right now, gatorade, yum.

Anything make you sick? My boss' coffee smell, ugh, makes me throw up a little in my mouth

Showing yet? I don't think so

Gender prediction? Tom thinks a girl, mom thinks a boy...I'm just not sure yet!

Labor signs? I had back spasms yesterday that I learned are from the ligaments in my back expanding, crazy stuff

Belly button in or out? in

Wedding rings? Still on

Happy or moody? MOODY until Monday...I may be turning the corner on this first trimester feeling...here's to hoping so!

Top Two Tuesday...guilty pleasures

Top Two Tuesday is on your guilty pleasures. My first is an EASY one.

I LOVE the Young and the Restless. I dvr it everyday and watch it first thing when I get home. My mom started me on it when I think I was like 3. Seriously, one of my earliest memories was watching it! Tom actually made a comment last night that I am an intelligent woman, how could I watch that stuff? ha! I just love it for some reason!

My number two guilty pleasure is sonic milkshakes! With how hot it is in Memphis right now, I get one every other day. They are buy one, get one free!!

Head over to The Undomestic Momma to play!

Mothers Day... a tad late

We had already found out we were pregnant by mothers day...so it was technically my first. :) It was a busy one too!

We started the day by going to a new church. We are trying out different churches to really try to find a church home for our family. After church, we headed to Tom's mom's assisted living for a mother's day brunch. It was very nice and it was just the two of us with his mom. With Tom's large family, it was nice to spend some alone time with her. I think she enjoyed showing off her "little" boy to all her friends too. (Tom's mom's face is still swollen from all the steroids they have her on.)

After the brunch, we headed to Jim's Place East (to eat again!) for an afternoon meal with Tom's whole family.

Me and Tom

Aunt Janice and Fontana

Polly opening all her goodies

Then, after Jim's Place we headed to the Collierville bowling alley for "mother's day bowling" with my family!

Mom and Eliza Grace

EG and Em bowling

I think Eliza Grace liked the game room better!

Busy as it was, I had a wonderful first mother's day and can't WAIT till next year when I have the little one!!!

Overwhelmed!!

I'm so excited to finally be able to talk about our little one! We were definitely trying...we had been trying to conceive, in fact, since the day we said I do! I know, I know. We really should have time to ourselves being married, etc. However, we knew beyond a shadow of a doubt we wanted children and with Tom being 38...well, we decided to go ahead and make it happen! :)

The past 9 months of TTC (trying to conceive...I'm definitely up on the lingo) seemed like an eternity! We were already looking into our appointments with the OB on "the next step". I finally did what everyone else had been telling me and just relaxed and prayed...and well, here we are! I will say that after these 9 months of frustration and tears, I can't IMAGINE what others go through with infertility. We do truly feel blessed and I continue to pray for those that aren't as blessed as we were. That being said, we are a far way from the end, so please pray for us too!

Now, I have alot of blog catching up to do!

I'll start with Mother's day tomorrow but for now, here are some pics from the weekend before we found out when we went out to eat with our friends, Melody and Brian...I can't post without any pics!

Have a great day!
